Products

Why is the food watery sometimes?

Natural moisture from raw ingredients can cause variability in texture. This moisture is normal and helps preserve nutrients

Can I cook the food?

We do not recommend cooking our products. Cooking our raw food alters its nutritional profile and may diminish important nutrients your pet needs.

Why do I sometimes notice a colour or texture change in your recipes?

Since our products are natural, some colour or texture variation from batch-to-batch is normal.

How is your raw food different from raw meat from the grocery store?

While they may look similar, our raw food is specifically formulated for pets, offering important nutritional advantages over grocery store meat. Making a raw diet at from scratch at home can be challenging, but Rawvolution provides all the benefits of raw feeding without the need to calculate nutrients on your own

Health & Nutrition

How can bone broth assist with gut healing, especially for pets with leaky gut syndrome?

Bone broth is a powerhouse for gut health! It's rich in collagen, gelatin, amino acids like glutamine, and essential minerals. These components work synergistically to soothe and repair the lining of the digestive tract, reduce inflammation, and improve nutrient absorption. For pets with leaky gut syndrome, often exacerbated by protein intolerances from eating the same proteins in kibble, bone broth helps to "seal" the gut, reducing the passage of undigested food particles and toxins into the bloodstream, thus supporting overall healing and immune function.

Why is chicken a common protein allergy in dogs, and how does it relate to kibble?

Chicken is indeed one of the most common protein allergens for dogs, particularly those fed commercial kibble. This is largely because chicken (and beef) are the most frequently used protein sources in processed pet foods. Constant exposure to the same, often highly processed, protein can lead to the immune system identifying it as a threat, resulting in protein intolerances or full-blown allergies. Symptoms can include skin issues, digestive upset, and ear infections.

Why is protein rotation important for my dog's diet?

Protein rotation is crucial for several reasons: * Prevents Protein Intolerances/Allergies: As mentioned, constant exposure to one protein can lead to sensitivity. Rotating proteins reduces this risk. * Provides a Broader Nutrient Profile: Different proteins offer varying amino acid profiles, vitamins, and minerals. Rotating ensures your pet receives a wider spectrum of essential nutrients for optimal health. * Enhances Gut Microbiome Diversity: A varied diet promotes a more diverse and resilient gut microbiome, which is vital for digestion, immunity, and overall well-being. * Reduces Pickiness: It keeps meal times exciting and prevents your pet from becoming overly selective about their food.

Puppies

Is there anything I need to add to my puppy’s diet?

The Rawvolution Mousses are naturally balanced on their own, requiring ZERO supplementation

How do I know if I am feeding my puppy enough?

Puppies should have their body condition assessed weekly as they will be growing quite rapidly during their first year. This assessment can help determine if the puppy is receiving sufficient calories to support optimal growth and development or if changes should be made. We understand puppies often go through awkward growth stages, but it is important to make sure your puppy is not carrying excessive weight as that will affect their overall growth and development.

How long should I keep my puppy on the Rawvolution Mousse?

We recommend keeping your puppy on the Rawvolution Mousse until they are fully grown and mature. This will ensure your puppy is getting all the nutrients they need to finish growing. This usually equates to 10 to 12 months for small breeds, 12 to 14 months for medium breeds, 14 to 16 months for large breeds and up to 18 months for extra-large breeds. If you have any concerns, please check with your primary veterinarian and they can guide you through this process.

Cats and Kittens

Is there anything I need to add to my kitten/ cats diet?

The Rawvolution Mousses are naturally balanced on their own, requiring ZERO supplementation

How do I know if I am feeding my cat/kitten enough?

Kittens should have their body condition assessed weekly to ensure they are receiving enough food for optimal growth. Cats that have finished growing should have their body condition assessed every 1-3 months to ensure they maintainan ideal body weight

Fasting & Gut Health

Isn’t it cruel to let my dog go a whole day without eating?

It feels that way to us because we associate food with love! However, biologically, it’s the opposite. Constant feeding keeps your dog’s body in a state of "work" (digestion). Giving them a break allows their body to shift into "repair" mode (autophagy). In the wild, a dog’s ancestor was at their peak mental and physical performance when fasting for a hunt. You aren't starving them; you’re empowering their biology.

My dog threw up yellow foam. Should I stop the fast?

That yellow foam is called "hunger bile." It’s a very common sign that your dog’s stomach is expecting food at its usual time. It’s actually a great indicator that their stomach is ready to produce the high acidity needed for a Rawvolution PMR meal! If it happens, give them a small ice cube or a little water with a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar. Usually, their body adjusts after the first few fasts.

Can I fast my puppy or my pregnant dog?

No. Puppies (under 12 months), pregnant or lactating females, and dogs with specific medical conditions like Type 1 Diabetes should not be fasted. These dogs have high metabolic demands and need a steady supply of nutrients. For these cases, we recommend a gradual transition to raw without the fasting period.

Will my dog lose too much weight if I fast them once a week?

Not at all. Fasting is about timing, not necessarily calories. Most owners simply take the amount of food the dog would have eaten on the "fast day" and distribute it across the other six days of the week. This keeps their weight stable while providing all the cellular benefits of the "digestive rest."

Can I give my dog treats or "chews" during a fast?

To get the full benefits of **Autophagy** (cellular cleanup), your dog’s digestive system needs to be completely at rest. Even a small treat "wakes up" the pancreas and digestive enzymes. For a true health fast, stick to fresh, filtered water only.

Why is my dog's stool different after a fast?

When you begin fasting and switching to a PMR diet, you might see smaller, harder stools. This is actually a sign of success! Kibble produces large, soft stools because of all the undigested fillers (corn, wheat, soy). Because Rawvolution meals are almost 100% digestible, there is very little waste left over.

How do I know if the "Gut Acidity" is working?

You’ll know the acidity is right when your dog can easily digest the 15% bone content in our meals without any pieces appearing in their stool. A highly acidic gut (pH 1-2) turns bone into a safe, chalky paste. Fasting is the quickest way to "tune" the stomach to reach those powerful acidity levels.
